SUNDAY SCHOOL 2007-Dawn Bowe

2007 was another fun year in Sunday School at KUMC. We offer Sunday School classes for 3 year olds through 12th grade. In February we collected items and filled school bags to be sent with the mission team down to Dulac, Louisiana. In May the children shared with the congregation the lessons they had learned through songs and skits.

In August we had Game Day Central Vacation Bible School. The children participated in many sports related activities and learned many life lessons. We had quest speakers J.D. Bickle and Micah Hegerle from Fellowship of Christian Athletes come talk to our group. This a great Christian organization available in our area for students grades nine through twelve. Throughout the year the children were able to earn Bible Bucks by learning Bible verses. They then were able to go shopping at the Bible Bucks store. The children also supported a foreign child named Maria through Compassion International with their Sunday School offerings.

In the fall our classes participated in Operation Classroom collecting school supplies to fill 22 school bags for children in Africa. In October they also participated in Trick or Treat for Uncief. They wore costumes during fellowship time and collected $200 to help children all over the world. In November we participated in Operation Christmas Child by filling 40 shoe boxes with items for children. This year we had a wonderful opportunity to go up to the distribution center for Operation Christmas Child to help inspect and load boxes. Fifteen people volunteered their time and had a great experience.

In December the Sunday School classes presented the Christmas Program God Blessed Them One and All with wonderful singing and drama! This fall we were blessed with the addition of music time for our classes. Before classes begin each week the children are able to sing their praises to Jesus with the help of Lori Root, Julie Bartel and Jennifer Flynn. Thank you ladies for volunteering your time and talents!

In 2008 we hope to be able to reach out more to others through mission opportunities both in our community and abroad. We also pray that we would have more volunteers to help in the classrooms. This is a very important ministry of our church, teaching children about the love of Jesus!

Each Sunday at 10:30 am
